New BSJZ Law Office Undergoes Restoration
Blevins Sanborn Jezdimir Zack PLC is located at 1842 Michigan Avenue in the Corktown neighborhood of Detroit. Corktown is Detroit’s oldest surviving neighborhood and is currently undergoing a revitalization lead by many new restaurants and other businesses. BSJZ Law is proud to be one of the first professional office buildings in Corktown.
The BSJZ Law office has undergone significant renovations and the finishing touches are being applied. The final exterior work on the building’s facade and repaving the adjoining parking lot is starting soon.
The building was originally constructed in the late 1800s and has been occupied by many diverse businesses. At one time, the upper floor was home to a boarding house. When renovations began for BSJZ Law, the room numbers for the old boarding home rooms still hung on the interior doors.
The earliest known photograph of the building was likely taken in the 1940s. The two buildings on the left were demolished in the 1960s.
The next available photograph shows the building in the 1970s, when the main floor housed an auto parts store. The upper floor remained vacant until the recent renovations began. Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, the main floor of the building housed a bar and grill.
BSJZ Law is excited to move into the building and become a part of the neighborhood. The renovations have featured many local businesses, including conference tables made by Workshop Detroit from lumber salvaged from demolished Detroit homes and signage and logos by the Detroit Wood Type Company.
Below is a rendering depicting the building once the final exterior renovations are completed. Check back for further updates and information regarding our new location.
